Description
CLEAN AND POLISH YOUR ALUMINUM PONTOON IN LESS THAN 60 MINUTES
Gone in 60!
With ALUMABUFF® you can Buff Out the Stains, Tarnish and Corrosion from a 22′ Pontoon in as little as 60 minutes! NEW Product From Aurora Marine. Fast Acting Aluminum Buffing Compound.

WHAT IS ALUMABUFF® AND HOW TO USE IT?

ALUMABUFF® is water based and free rinsing so the restored surface is ready for a protective coating like ALUMETRON®, without the necessity of removing residual wax, silicone or oil. It can be used by hand or with a LINEAR BUFFER® (Recommended) to save time and labour.

It’s formulated to quickly and easily remove stains, tarnish, white streaks, oxidation, corrosion and cloud from mill finished aluminum without the necessity of messy and dirty metal polish or rubbing compounds. Aluminum can be cleaned and brightened in 1/10 the time and with less material, saving time, labour and money.

ALUMABUFF® is the easiest and fastest way to clean and polish aluminum of the stains, streaks and white cloud that plague pontoon boats. It’s water based and free rinsing so the restored surface is ready for a protective coating like ALUMETRON®, without the necessity of removing residual wax, silicone or oil. It can be used by hand or with a LINEAR BUFFER® (Recommended) to save time and labour.

Pontoon boats look amazing when they are new and shiny. Unfortunately the aluminum pontoons begin to tarnish and stain from the water, pollutants and atmosphere. The questions that most pontoon boat owners ask are: 1. How to clean aluminum? 2. How to polish aluminum? The old fashioned way of cleaning aluminum and polishing aluminum with acid aluminum cleaner and abrasive aluminum polish is very labour intensive, time consuming, dirty, hard work. ALUMABUFF® works chemically as well as mechanically and when used with the special ALUMABUFF PADS and a LINEAR BUFFER®, restores the aluminum pontoon to its like new appearance in no time.

ALUMABUFF® WILL ADD VALUE TO YOUR PONTOON BOATS

Even luxury pontoon boats and expensive triton pontoon boats lose their value if the pontoons are tarnished and stained. Clean, shiny pontoons can easily add 10% or more to the resale price of a pontoon boat and of course, you enjoy greater pride of ownership when your boat looks pristine. The best way for cleaning aluminum and polishing aluminum boats and aluminum pontoons is with ALUMABUFF®. The HYPEXINE® in the product leaches the stains to the surface, where they can be rapidly removed with the special ALUMABUFF PAD without having to grind away the surface. The restored surface maintains the mill finish your pontoon boat had when it was new, making ongoing maintenance much easier.

Why You’ll Love It!
  • You too can restore your pontoons quickly and easily with ALUMABUFF®.
  • Saves time and money. Proven to remove stains, streaks, cloud and corrosion in 1 pass.
  • Fast Acting. Contains HYPEXINE® to leach stain to the surface for quick and easy removal.
  • Water based environment friendly formula.
  • No wax, silicone, petroleum distillates or VOC’s.
  • Restore an average pontoon to like new in as little as 1 hour.
  • Maintains original silver mill finish. Does not change metal to chrome look.

    Good product! Bad pitch…
So this product does the job!!! My pontoons where so dirty! Stains from front to back. In some areas the stains almost black. So the precess was timely and physically tiring. So I started by getting all the equipment ready to start the job. I had my 8 inch round power polisher, my power washer, towels to dry the water, and paint brush to apply the alumabuff. So I cleaned the pontoons with purple power to get all the dust off and road dirt. After then started applying only doing areas in 12-18 inch sections of the pontoon. Next it was buffing time after going over the area for about 3-5 min I would just simply high pressure wash it off. After doing so I could see what area needed a second time over. But after doing it the 1st time it made a 90% positive difference. I would recommend this product for cleaning you pontoons to anyone. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars isn’t the products fault, it’s the pitch. The pitch is 60 min pontoon cleaning! No way in hell will the average person be able to clean a pontoon in 60 min!! Since the company made the YouTube video about cleaning the pontoon in 60 min is the reason I didn’t give 5 stars. This will take the average person cleaning it by yourself “24 foot pontoon” about 4-6 hours from 1st buff to last buff. So all in all was it worth the $200 plus that was spent on the product yes it was it did it’s job. Also I only used half a gallon, so I have lots left over for next time.

    Very pleased with the results.
My dealer was out of stock on Algex so he sold me the wrong product for removing the algae from the bottom of my pontoon boat and it turned the aluminum white.

I tried your Alumabuff by hand with a Marine Power Mitt and found the product to perform very well, would have been much less effort with the linear buffer I’m sure. Overall I must say I’m quite pleased with the result. It took me 4 ½ hours to do it by hand so I’m going to order the buffer to do the other 2 pontoons. You can see from the before and after pictures that the pontoon looks brand new again. It even removed the brown stain and streaks above the waterline.

I would like to thank you for your help and including me in the test program…I have used other Aurora products and overall I must say your products perform as stated on your literature…you have been most helpful and accommodating.

Just as a passing thought it might be helpful to provide a bit more product knowledge to some of your dealers…. Although the directions on the product are great the problem lies with dealers that don’t carry the full product line sometimes try and sell what they have and can create some issues as was the situation in my case.

We’ve been waiting for this product
The pontoon boats are delivered to our dealership in the winter. When they get here the pontoons are streaked and stained from the road salt then they are stored outside until the spring when we can get at them. We don’t have too much time to get them cleaned and detailed and customers complain about the streaked pontoons and won’t take delivery or want a discount. Until now. We used your Alumabuff and got the toons shined up on 3 boats for our local boat show in a few hours and they looked brand new again. All 3 boats sold in the 1st day and we got orders for 4 more. We had the best looking pontoons at the show. We’re stocking up on your products. Thanks. John

    I’m so happy.
I just finished applying Alumetron and VS721 to my pontoons. They look great. I’m so happy. I started with Algex to remove the marine growth and then buffed them with Alumabuff. I waited until this April and washed them with Boat Clean Plus to clean and degrease. I applied 4 thin coats of the Alumetron and then finished with VS721.

    Thanks again,

    amazing stuff
Just pulled my pontoon boat for winter storage and for the first time I used Algex. I must say I was really impressed with how well it worked, made the job very easy and almost fun to see the algae fly off the tubes when I applied the pressure washer after applying the Algex and let it set for a few minutes..amazing stuff and does what it says.

I used alumabuff and applied with the linear buffer..again the results were great and the linear buffer sure made the job much easier, the mitt works well in tight spaces where I wasn’t able to get the buffer. I will do another application of the alumabuff in the spring. Have attached some before and after pics.

Thank you for your help and your amazing products, am spreading the word to my fellow pontoon boaters.

    Regards, Nelson

People Also Ask

1. Can I use other buffing pads or materials with ALUMABUFF.

No. Other materials will not work efficiently with ALUMABUFF and may cause damage to the aluminum. These pads were specially engineered to work with ALUMABUFF.

2. Can I use a rotary or orbital buffer instead of a Linear Buffer?

No. Rotary and orbital buffers and grinders will cut away the surface metal and change the appearance to chrome. Chrome finished aluminum takes 10 times more labour to achieve. Linear buffers move back and forth, parallel to the grain of the aluminum so there is much less cutting of the surface metal and the original silver mill finish is maintained.

3. Can I use ALUMABUFF by hand or do I need a Linear Buffer?

You can use ALUMABUFF by hand but it takes much longer. We highly recommend a Linear Buffer. A linear buffing machine and the proper pad will save you a lot of time and labour. A Linear Buffer moves back and forth at up to 2,500, 16 inch, strokes per minute. How long would it take you to move your hand back and forth in 16 inch strokes?A machine will also give you more even, consistent results. If you decide to do it by hand we recommend using a MARINE POWER MITT™.

4. Is ALUMABUFF the same as a rubbing compound or metal polish?

No. ALUMABUFF is a chemical cleaner that uses mechanical buffing as a cleaning aid. Rubbing compounds and metal polishes are designed to cut away the stained or oxidized surface to reveal a new surface, but this changes the appearance of your marine aluminum.

5. Buffing aluminum generates a black residue that goes all over the place and is hard to remove. Does ALUMABUFF do that?

No. ALUMABUFF is water based and does not remove so much of the metal so the black residue is much less and is contained on the surface and on the pad.

6. Why does ALUMABUFF work so much faster than rubbing compound?

Rubbing compounds and sandpaper or metal polishes are highly abrasive and are designed to grind away and remove the surface layer of the metal. Grinding and polishing is tedious labour intensive work. ALUMABUFF is a chemical cleaner with a buffing aid to accelerate the cleaning action.

7. Is ALUMABUFF proven?

Yes. See the video.

8. Aurora Boat Care Products are guaranteed to work Is ALUMABUFF guaranteed?

Yes. When used as directed, All Aurora Boat Care Products are sold with a 100% Customer Satisfaction or Your Money Back Guarantee. You can use all of our products with complete confidence.

9. I don’t want to do the work myself. Are there people that can restore my pontoons with ALUMABUFF?

Yes, Ask your pontoon boat dealer. The will be happy to help you out and they have the equipment to lift your boat off the trailer so they can get underneath. If they’re not familiar with how to use ALUMABUFF they can call Customer Service at 1-866-214-3444 for help and technical advice.

10. My pontoon is on a trailer. How can I get between the bunks and pontoons to clean that area?

Ask the Skipper. He’s always ready to help. https://www.auroramarine.com/ask-the-skipper/viewtopic.php?t=11207

11. How much ALUMABUFF do I need for a 22 ft. pontoon boat?

An average pontoon will require 1 bottle per pontoon. If it’s really badly stained or heavily oxidized or oversized, you may need more.

12. How often do I have to clean my pontoons with ALUMABUFF to keep them looking new?

Depending on how you maintain them. Staining, streaking and corrosion is caused from use of improper chemicals or pollutants in the environment. Use only cleaners and protectors recommended for aluminum and wash them on a regular basis to keep them looking new. You can also coat them with ALUMETRON™ and that will protect them against environmental damage and staining for up to 5 years.

13. What can I use to protect my pontoons so that I don’t have to clean them all the time?

ALUMETRON™ will keep them looking shiny and new for up to 5 years, even in salt water.

14. Will ALUMABUFF remove algae from the bottom of my pontoons?

No. Use ALGEX™ first to remove the growth.

15. My boat lives in the water. How can I stop marine growth from attaching to the bottom of the pontoons?

Apply VS721 at the beginning of each season. It’s perfectly clear and makes it difficult for algae to attach and Zebra or Quaga Mussels can’t attach. Many areas prohibit the transport of boats from a contaminated body of water to their lakes in order to prevent the spread of these invasive species.

16. What is the shelf life of ALUMABUFF?

Three years.

17. There are some areas under the deck and around the nose cone where I can’t get the buffer in to do the work. How do I clean and restore those areas?

Areas that are inaccessible with the buffer will have to be done by hand. We recommend using a MARINE POWER MITT™ for any hand work. It saves time and labour and will give you more consistent results

18. Is the ALUMABUFF finished surface difficult to maintain like highly polished chrome finishes?

No. It restores the original factory finish.

19. Is ALUMABUFF environment friendly?

Yes. It’s water based, biodegradable and does not contain petroleum distillates or VOC’s.

20. What is the recommended temperature to use ALUMABUFF?

The ideal temperature is between 50°F and 75°F. If too cold it becomes sticky and hard to work and if too hot it dries too quickly requiring constant spraying with water. It’s also best not to do this in direct sunlight. Early morning or late afternoon or evening are best.

21. The directions say to keep ALUMABUFF damp. What happens if it dries on the surface?

If ALUMABUFF dries out, the chemicals stop working and you are left using only the buffing aid. This will over polish the metal. Keep a spray bottle of water handy and moisten it when required or apply fresh ALUMABUFF. Do not skimp on ALUMABUFF. Let the chemical do the work for you.

22. Are replacement ALUMABUFF pads readily available?

Yes. We sell them in a kit of 3 replacement pads.

How To

ALUMABUFF®

ALUMABUFF® Removes Oxidation, Stains, Tarnish, Streaks & Discoloration.
Use with LINEAR BUFFER® or By Hand. HYPEXINE® lifts stains to the surface for easy removal.

DIRECTIONS:

Clean aluminum. Remove marine growth with ALGEX® and dirt and pollutants with BOAT CLEAN PLUS®. Do Not Buff if ALUMABUFF® dries out. Re-lubricate by spraying with water.

MACHINE BUFFING: Use a LINEAR BUFFER® with an ALUMABUFF PAD®. Apply ALUMABUFF® evenly to a 2 to 3 sq. ft. area and to the pad with a paint brush. Turn on the LINEAR BUFFER® and apply to the aluminum surface while increasing pressure. Slowly move the machine from the top to the bottom, always keeping the length of the pad parallel to the grain of the aluminum. Repeat until the stains and streaks are removed. Continue to the adjacent section, maintaining a slight overlap. Rinse away residue or power wash.

HAND BUFFING: Apply ALUMABUFF® evenly to a 1 sq. ft. section and to a MARINE POWER MITT® or soft cloth pad with a paint brush. Buff the aluminum surface in a back and forth motion parallel to the direction of the grain until the stains and streaks are removed. Continue to the adjacent section, maintaining a slight overlap. Rinse away residue or power wash.

PROTECTION: After restoring your boat or pontoons, protect the surface against future staining, oxidation and salt damage for up to
5 years with ALUMETRON®. Apply VS721® below the waterline to reduce marine fouling and to improve the performance and fuel economy of your boat.
